NEELY SUBJECT OF DISCIPLINARY HEARING APRIL 6
The Virginia State Bar will hold a disciplinary hearing April 6 against Keith Neely, the local lawyer who is on trial in Roanoke on federal racketeering charges.Patricia Rios, of the bar association's disciplinary department, said a complaint had been filed by the bar in Montgomery County Circuit Court. Jane Fletcher, assistant bar counsel, will prosecute the charge.
Neely said Monday that the charge centers around his 1990 conviction for misdemeanor cocaine possession.
Meanwhile, Neely's federal jury trial continues this week. He is accused of racketeering, cocaine dealing, money laundering, promoting a marijuana farm in a national forest and corrupting the grand jury system by giving drugs to a grand jury court reporter to get inside information.
