BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS BACK ON TONIGHT
William Fleming, Laurel Park, Martinsville and Covington attempt to add to the list of Timesland teams in the state basketball tournament semifinals when they play first-round games tonight.The Colonels, champions of the Roanoke Valley District, take on Hayfield at Robinson High in Fairfax tonight in a first-round Group AAA boys' game.
In Group AA action at Bassett High tonight, Laurel Park takes on Virginia High at 6 p.m., followed by Martinsville against Gate City.
Also tonight, Covington battles Twin Springs in a Group A game at Marion beginning at 7:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Floyd County battles Hurley at Marion in a Group A game starting at 7:30 p.m.
The Cave Spring girls beat W.T. Woodson 58-51 on Friday to become the first team to qualify for the state tournament final four.

In Raleigh, N.C., VMI got only one run on seven hits and lost 11-1 to North Carolina State (16-0) on Monday in college baseball. David Groseclose was 2-for-4 and drove in the Keydets' run in the ninth inning.
