OBIT BOWERS, HOMER A.D.
BOWERS, Homer A., 71, of Roanoke, died Sunday, March 14, 1993, at his home.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, and was a member of the
American Legion Post No. 3 in Salem. He was retired from Merita Bakery, and
was currently a part-time employee of Western Sizzlin in Roanoke. Surviving
are his wife, Mary A. Bowers, Roanoke; six children and their spouses, Bonnie
and Buddy Kling of Hot Springs, Va., Mayor David Bowers and Alison Weaver of
Roanoke, Rob Bowers of Roanoke, Paul and Martha Bowers of Richmond, Tom Bowers
of Buies Creek, N.C., and Lynn Bowers of Richmond; and three grandchildren,
Josh and Karen Kling, Meredith Bowers. Also surviving are numerous other
relatives in North Carolina. A Funeral mass of the Resurrection will be held
at St. Andrew's Catholic Church 2 p.m. Tuesday with Father Lawrence J.
Mullaney officiating. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at
Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
