CHARLES E. GREEN, FORMER DELEGATE, IS DEAD AT 80

Charles E. Green, Bedford County's representative in the House of Delegates from 1954 to 1962, died Monday. He was 80.

Green, a former president of the Bedford Chamber of Commerce, served four terms as a delegate, running unopposed in the first two general elections. In 1961, he was defeated in the Democratic primary.

He worked for more than 50 years as a community pharmacist and was a former president of the Virginia Pharmaceutical Association. He served on the boards of Central Virginia Community College and Dominion Bank.

A memorial service will be held Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford. Carder-Tharp Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
