OBIT ROSS, JAMES HAROLD
ROSS, James Harold, 78, of 5614 Tower Rd., Greensboro, N. C., died March
16, 1993. He was born in Franklin County, August 8, 1914, son of the late
Joseph Peter Ross and Victoria Ross Ingram, Martinsville. Mr. Ross was a
retired plumbing wholesaler of Crane Branches, in Roanoke, Greensboro and the
Washington-Baltimore area. He was a member of the Guilford College United
Methodist Church, having served on the administration board and chairperson of
the board of trustees. He was an Army World War II veteran, a Lions Club and
Moose Club member. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife,
Alice Ramsey Ross of Greensboro; two daughters, Phyllis Ross of Greensboro,
and Judith Barringer of San Francisco, Calif.; one son, James H. Ross of
Allentown, Pa.; six grandchildren; a half brother, Basil E. Ross of
Martinsville; one stepbrother, Poff Ingram of Ridgeway; five stepsisters, Elva
I. Turner and Ruby I. West, both of Ridgeway, Va.; Marie I. Hazelwood, Mrs.
Jewel (Chester) Hagwood, both of Fieldale, and Mrs. Iva (Odell) Moran of
Collinsville. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 19, 3 p.m. at the
Collins Funeral Service Chapel in Bassett. Dr. Hurley Thomas and the Rev.
Charles Daughton will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday
evening at Collins Funeral Service from 7 to 9. Private family interment at
the home place in Henry, Va. Memorials may be made to the Guilford College
United Methodist Church, 1205 Fleming Rd., Greensboro 27410 or the Fork
Mountain Rescue Squad, Rt. 3, Bassett, Va. 24055.
