SOUTHWEST VIRGINIA SCHOOLS STAY CLOSED FOR REST OF WEEK

Most schools in Southwest Virginia have given in to the snow and closed for the rest of the week.

School systems in Wythe, Bland, Smyth, Carroll and Grayson counties and the city of Galax will remain closed today and Friday. Smyth County will have a teachers' work day today, and Galax will have one Friday.

Washington County schools will be closed today. No decision had been made about Friday as of Wednesday afternoon. - Southwest bureau
