DEMOCRATS RESCHEDULE CAUCUSES
Virginia Democrats will try again Saturday and Monday to select delegates to their state convention after snow- and ice-covered roads in western and northern sections of the state forced a one-week delay.The state party announced that caucuses scheduled for noon last Saturday, most of them in urban and suburban areas, have been rescheduled for noon this Saturday. Caucuses scheduled for 7 and 7:30 p.m. Monday, most of them in rural areas, were rescheduled to the same time next week.
At the state convention, Democrats will nominate candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.
The party said that to the extent possible, caucuses will be held at the sites announced for the meetings that were canceled. A spokesman suggested that voters who want to take part and are unsure about the caucus location contact their local party chairmen. For the names of local chairmen, contact the state Democratic Party office in Richmond at (804) 644-1966.
