IN SERVICE

AIR FORCE SENIOR AIRMAN ERIC L. GEARHART, son of John Gearhart of Salem and Janet McWhorter of 5213 Twilight Road, has been sent to Germany with the "Provide Promise" exercises.

The operation provides cargo flights loaded with food and other relief supplies for the people in the former Yugoslavia.

Gearhart is a 1987 graduate of Northside High School.

\ SEAMAN APPRENTICE HILLERY E. LEONARD, son of Hillery E. and Betty A. Leonard of Vinton, recently graduated from Coast Guard recruit training at Cape May, N.J.

Leonard is a 1990 graduate of Roanoke Valley Christian Schools.

\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS BRADLEY A. BLANKENSHIP, son of Charlotte L. Blankenship of 321 10th St., Vinton, and Stephen P. Blankenship of Troutville, has reported for duty aboard the submarine tender USS Simon Lake, based in Norfolk.

Blankenship is a 1990 graduate of Salem High School.
