U.S. 29 CONSTRUCTION SET TO BEGIN MONDAY
Drivers into Lynchburg: This is fair warning.A 4-mile section of four-lane U.S. 29 through Lynchburg will begin a major facelift Monday that will include replacing four bridges and the concrete roadway with a new asphalt pavement.
The project will continue through October 1994.
During construction, expect delays as the road is narrowed to two lanes and the speed limit is reduced to 35 mph along some sections.
The expressway is the busiest major thoroughfare in Lynchburg, with an average of 40,000 vehicles operating on the road per day.
The cost of the project is expected to be $11.5 million.
