NBC fires 3 staffers in faked GM crashNBC on Friday fired three top staff members on its "Dateline NBC" program over the staging of a fiery crash involving a General Motors truck, according to a knowledgeable network official.
Another network source said more dismissals are possible when an internal report on the affair is made public, probably next week.
Jeff Diamond, executive producer of "Dateline NBC," was told to clean out his desk immediately, as were David Rummel, the program's senior producer, and Robert Read, who produced the GM segment. The status of Michele Gillen, the correspondent on the story, was unknown.
The decision was made after NBC President Robert Wright reviewed a report from outside attorneys hired by NBC to look into the GM fiasco, the network official said. - Washington Post
