PEOPLE NEED THE CATALOG
I'VE WORKED at Sears Telecatalog more than 4 1/2 years, and all our customers across the country hate to see it close down. We've had a tremendous response since the announcement. There's a big market for Sears' catalog and no one wants to see it just disappear. In my opinion, Allstate Insurance paid out lots of money to hurricane victims in Florida, and money was borrowed from the catalog - and that's why the catalog is bankrupt.
People in rural areas need the catalog to survive. Also, there are lots of invalid and shut-in people who need it. If everyone would stand up for an American institution, perhaps the catalog could survive. SHIRLEY TAYLOR SURRATT SALEM
