OBIT NELMS, SYLVIA HAMILTON

NELMS, Sylvia Hamilton, 72, of Roanoke, died Friday, March 19, 1993 at her home. She was born in Roanoke on November 4, 1920, the daughter of the late Clack Campbell and Sylvia Hamilton Nelms. She was graduated from Randolph-Macon Women's College and taught in Roanoke City and County Schools. Miss Nelms had been active in the Junior Women's Club of Roanoke and the Red Cross. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. and Robert C. Nelms; and two sisters, Nancy Nelms Bowman, and Mary Elizabeth Nelms Stone. She is survived by one niece; and four nephews. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Burial Park. Dr. Gregory L. Adkins will officiate. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
