SHOOTING VICTIM FOUND IN PASTURE IN PATRICK COUNTY

A farmer who went to check on his cattle in Patrick County on Sunday afternoon discovered the body of a man who had been shot at least once in the back, Patrick County Sheriff Jay Gregory said.

Gregory said the victim, lying in a field in the Ararat section of the county, may have been a migrant worker. The body has not yet been identified and no arrests have been made, the sheriff said.

It was unclear how long the body had been in the field, Gregory said.
