JUDGE SETS JUNE 1 DEADLINE FOR CLAIMS IN AIRLINE SETTLEMENT
A federal judge gave travelers until June 1 to file claims for air-fare discounts under a $458 million settlement of a lawsuit accusing nine U.S. carriers of fixing prices.U.S. District Judge Marvin H. Shoob set the claims deadline when he approved the deal Monday.
"That will be the final extension," said Diane Nast of Philadelphia, a lead attorney in the 3-year-old class-action lawsuit that accused the nation's biggest airlines of using an industry computer system to jointly raise fares.
About 2.6 million discount claims have been filed so far. Lawyers say they expect about 1.5 million more. - Associated Press
