OBIT BARRETT, ALBERT J.
BARRETT, Albert J., died Monday, March 22, 1993 in Montgomery, Alabama at age 52. Mr. Barrett began his teaching career at the Potomac Schools in Mclean, Va., and subsequently became assistant headmaster at North Cross School in Roanoke, Va. He later served as headmaster of Valwood School in Valdosta, Georgia and was later named president of Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in Suffolk, Va. At the time of his death Mr. Barrett was executive director of the Private Industry Council for the state of Alabama. He was an active member of the Princeton Alumni Schools Committee, and served on the board of directors of the YMCA of both Greater Hampton Roads and Suffolk. Mr. Barrett graduated from Westminster School in Atlanta, Ga. and earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University. He also received a master's degree from George Washington University. He is survived by his wife, Linda Cann Barrett of Suffolk; two daughters, Elizabeth Douglas Barrett of Alexandria, Va., and Virginia Waddy Barrett of Suffolk; and one son, David Maxwell Barrett of Suffolk, Va. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 26, 1993 in Hollywood Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a favorite charity. Remains rest at the Joseph W. Bliley Funeral Home, 3rd & Marshall St., Richmond, Va.
