GUATEMALAN WAR TO BE TOPIC OF TALK
Ed Davis, a professor of geography at Emory & Henry College who has studied Mayan life in the Guatemalan Highlands for the past two summers, will give a slide presentation at 7:30 p.m. Monday on the effects of war on Mayan farmers.Davis will discuss what his visits have taught him about the war's effects on village and farm life. A civil war has been going on in Guatemala since 1978.
The talk is free. It is sponsored by the Appalachian Peace Education Center and will be held in the Washington County Public Library. - Southwest bureau
