JUVENILE SUPERVISOR FACES SEX CHARGES
A child-care supervisor at a detention home for juveniles has been charged with having sex with a 15-year-old female inmate.Michael Demetrius Hutchins, 38, was arrested Tuesday on charges of taking indecent liberties with a child in custody and having sexual relations with a minor in detention.
Each is a felony carrying a potential prison sentence of one to five years. A Circuit Court grand jury indicted Hutchins Monday.
The girl complained to detention home officials on March 1, authorities said. No force is alleged in the case.
"She spoke to me and said someone was bothering her," said acting home superintendent Curtis Nolan. He said police detectives were called immediately.
The indictment says the alleged incidents occurred between Feb. 8 and March 1.
The home, owned and operated by the city, holds a maximum of 30 juveniles.
