TECH RADIO RIGHTS GO TO NEW GROUP
Virginia Tech has awarded its radio broadcast rights for football and basketball to The AmericaNetwork Group, Inc.Athletic director Dave Braine said Wednesday that Tech signed a three-year contract with two successive two-year options for renewal.
The network, which has headquarters in Nashville, Tenn., and offices in Columbia, S.C., succeeds MetroNews of Morgantown, W.Va., which has handled broadcasts the past four years.
Braine said AmericaNetwork also will produce and distribute television shows and radio call-in shows for coaches Frank Beamer in football and Bill Foster in basketball.
Bill Roth will be the Hokies' play-by-play announcer in football and basketball for the sixth year, and Mike Burnop will be retained as football analyst.
