OBIT CUNNINGHAM, NINA QUARLES

CUNNINGHAM, Nina Quarles, 90, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, March 23, 1993, in a Roanoke hospital. She was the widow of J. T. Cunningham Jr., a lifelong member of St. John's Episcopal Church, and a graduate of Longwood College. She taught in the Roanoke City School System in the mid 1920's and was a longtime member of the Mill Mountain Garden Club, and the Junior League of Roanoke. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, J. T. III and Jane Cunningham, Robert Q. and Bette Sue Cunningham, all of Roanoke; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at St. John's Episcopal Church, 11 a.m. Thursday by the Rev. Thomas P. O'Dell. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Christian Outreach Ministry at St. John's Episcopal Church, or the Roanoke Valley S.P.C.A. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
