\ SENIOR AIRMAN KEITH G. TANNER, son of Joyce M. Tanner of 6332 Meacham Road, Salem, and Ferdie G. Tanner of Falconer, N.Y., has arrived for duty at Rhein-Main Air Base in Frankfurt, Germany.
\ SGT. CATHY D. GOOLSBY, daughter of Jean S. Grisso of 1006 Riverside Road, Salem, has re-enlisted in the Army for four years.
Goolsby, a unit supply specialist at Kent State University in Ohio, is a 1980 graduate of Cave Spring High School.
\ NAVY AIRMAN MICHAEL S. BELCHER, son of Willie M. and Judy M. Belcher of 2815 Crown Circle, Salem, is in the Persian Gulf aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk with Fighter Squadron-111, based in San Diego.
The Kitty Hawk has been part of Operation Southern Watch, enforcing a no-fly zone over southern Iraq.
Belcher, a 1990 graduate of Glenvar High School, also served recently off the coast of Somalia with the relief effort Operation Restore Hope.
\ AIR FORCE SENIOR AIRMAN ERIC L. GEARHART, son of John Gearhart of Salem and Janet McWhorter of 5213 Twilight Road, has been sent to Germany with the "Provide Promise" exercises.
The operation provides cargo flights loaded with food and other relief supplies for the people in the former Yugoslavia.
Gearhart is a 1987 graduate of Northside High School.
\ SENIOR AIRMAN RANDALL S. HODGES, grandson of Walter E. and Louise O. Scott of 32 Hillcrest Park, has arrived for duty at Misawa Air Base, Japan.
Hodges, a law-enforcement specialist, is a 1988 graduate of Berean Christian Academy.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS BRADLEY A. BLANKENSHIP, son of Charlotte L. Blankenship of 321 10th St., Vinton, and Stephen P. Blankenship of Troutville, has reported for duty aboard the submarine tender USS Simon Lake, based in Norfolk.
Blankenship is a 1990 graduate of Salem High School.
\ PFC. MICHAEL Y. WARREN, son of Danial C. Warren of 6122 Plantation Road, Roanoke, and Mary A. Warren of 18 Carrollton Ave., Salem, has been deployed with 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, to participate in two live-fire Combined Arms Exercises at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Warren is a 1990 graduate of Northside High School.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS CHARLES S. HOLTZLANDER, son of Brenda B. and Charles S. Holtzlander Sr. of 2730 Fletcher St., Salem, has been promoted to his present rank and recently reported for duty at AEGIS Training Center, at Dahlgren.
Holtzlander is a 1984 graduate of Salem High School.
\ COAST GUARD PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS THEODORE A. BRATTON, a 1983 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, has been awarded the Coast Guard Humanitarian Service Medal while serving aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Chase, based in San Pedro, Calif.
He received the award for extraordinary service while participating in maritime search and rescue, marine environmental protection and national defense and law enforcement missions.
\ ARMY PFC. TWALA D. BRATTON, daughter of Paul L. Bratton of 3313 Pittsfield Circle and Josephine Callaway of 3728 Long Meadow Ave., has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
