UTC's Neil Connolly and Gareth Lord are tied with Ohio State's Bobby Sims for the individual lead after first-round 70s.
Roanoker Lewis Conner paced the Tech contingent with a 74.

Roanoke College senior Glen Prillaman and Hampden-Sydney's Peter Leggett shared medalist honors at 72 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference golf match at Glenrochie Country Club in Abingdon. Hampden-Sydney won at 302, followed by Roanoke at 322 and Emory & Henry at 366. The next ODAC match is Tuesday at Lexington Country Club.
The second Ferrum College Invitational Softball Tournament will be held this weekend at the James Moyer Sports Complex in Salem. Twelve teams, including host Ferrum and Emory & Henry, will make up three pools.
Today's pool play will start at 9 a.m. and run all day until about 6 p.m. On Sunday, there will be playoff games at 9 and 10:30 a.m., semifinals at noon and the championship game at 1:30 p.m.
