HAMLETT, Virginia Hurt, 73, of Bedford, died Saturday, March 27, 1993, in
the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. She was born September 22, 1919, in
Bedford County, a daughter of the late Ben Hurt and Virginia Craig Hurt. Twice
married, she was preceded in death by her husbands, John Tweedy and Charles
Hamlett. She was a member of the Ephesus United Methodist Church. She is
survived by three daughters, Virginia Bryan, Moneta; Susan Blankenship,
Evington, Margie Eanes, Bedford; one son, John R. Tweedy, Tuscon, Arizona; one
brother, Porter Hurt, Bedford; two sisters, Mildred Crouch, Roanoke, Barbara
Garraghty, Forest; a granddaughter, Sandra Bryan, Roanoke; two grandsons,
Wayne Bryan, John Bryan, both of Atlanta. Graveside services Tuesday, 11 a.m.
Ephesus United Methodist Church Cemetery, by the Rev. Dr. Carl H. Douglass Jr.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Updike Funeral
Home, Bedford.
