BAILEY, Sarah Lewis, 82, of Roanoke, passed away Saturday, March 27, 1993.
She was the widow of Henry Clay Bailey, a member of Calvary Baptist Church
(where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years). Mrs. Bailey
assisted her husband, for number of years, in the chapel programs at
Friendship Manor. Surviving are two brothers, Howard Vernon Lewis, Roanoke,
Edward Haskell Lewis, Gainesville, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews
including Joanne S. Woodfin, Brooklyn, N.Y., Rev. Rolen C. Bailey, A. Wayne
Lewis, Evelyn L. Lewis, all of Roanoke, Dr. Mary Lewis Crummer, Gainesville,
Fla., Kathryn B. Bradley, Manakin-Sabot, Va., Nancy D. Streedbeck, Sioux
Falls, S.D., and Dorothy B. Marshall of Dixon, Ill. Funeral services will be
conducted at noon Wednesday from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. M.
Dennis Herman and Dr. Harry Y. Gamble officiating. Interment will follow in
Sherwood Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial
contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church, (608 Campbell Ave., S.W.,
Roanoke, Va. 24016) or the Chaplaincy Program at Friendship Manor, (327
Hershberger Rd., N.W., Roanoke, Va. 24012). Friends may call after 9 a.m.
Tuesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where the family will be from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
