The U.S. Postal Service, which printed a mega-order of 300 million Elvis Presley postage stamps, has been so swamped with advance orders that last week it decided to print more. The stamp will be officially released next Friday.
The Census Bureau says there are more Americans than there used to be. On New Year's Day there should be an estimated 256,561,239.
Since 1990, the U.S. population has risen 7.9 million and is expected to grow by 2.8 million more in 1993, the Census Bureau said.
