TRIAL SET FOR MAN, 23, CHARGED IN FATAL CRASH

A 23-year-old Bland County man faces trial March 26 on a charge of involuntary manslaughter stemming from a fatal traffic crash last July.

Patrick Wayne Stowers of Bastian was charged after an accident in which a passenger in his car, Ricky Dale Looney, also 23, was killed. Another passenger, Randy Lee Staley, 36, and Stowers were both injured.

Stowers' car hit a concrete abutment on Virginia 606 near Hollybrook. Stowers was also charged with driving under the influence.
