UNIDENTIFIED MAN HURT IN CAR-TRUCK ACCIDENT
An unidentified man was seriously injured about 6 a.m. Thursday in an auto collision on the U.S. 460 bypass in Blacksburg.Blacksburg police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a car had attempted to pass a tractor-trailer at high speed when he lost control. The car slid under the trailer.
Traffic was rerouted off the bypass for about 90 minutes.
Police said they did not know the identity of the injured man, who was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. They had not found a wallet or other identification, and they were unable to interview him.
The driver of the tractor-trailer unit was Lynwood Barnett, who was driving for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. of Roanoke.
