MONTGOMERY COUNTY FOLKS GOT IT RIGHT
THIS IS in regard to the Montgomery County controversy over renaming the Christmas and Easter holidays, and the liberal blather by Geoff Seamans (commentary column, Dec. 20) concerning this incident.I do agree with Seamans on one point: Those people making the threatening calls to Daniel Schneck were wrong.
However, I don't agree with his assumption that these calls were made by Christian people. Since Daniel Schneck initiated the idea to rename the holidays without being pressed by the people of Montgomery County to do so, just what did he expect?
Only in recent years has this unbridled attack by liberals on Christianity gained legitimacy. The fact that Schneck is Jewish only added fuel to the flames. Again, what did he expect - congratulations from the people of Montgomery County?
Just how far are the Christian people of this country going to be shaved before they wake up? I applaud the people of Montgomery County for taking a stand. We need lots more like them. RAYMOND A. SIMMONS ROANOKE
