RICE, CLAUDE S.
RICE, Claude S., 80, of Goode, died Thursday, December 31, 1992, after a long illness. He was a member of Big Laurel Baptist Church in Marshall, N.C., and was a retired employee of Lynchburg Training School and Hospital. He was born March 24, 1912, in Madison County, N.C., a son of the late Fred and Eliza Rice. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Stephen C. Rice, and one brother, Zade Rice. He is survived by his wife, Faye E. Rice, Goode; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol R. and Wilbur Slusser, Newport News, Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, William C. and Christine Rice of Blue Ridge, Fredrick and Ruth Rice of Oklawaha, Fla.; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Faulkner, Abingdon; and a dear friend, Jenny Markham. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 4, 1993, with the Rev. Dr. Denver J. Davis officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memmorial Gardens, Christiansburg, at 1:30 pm. Monday following the service. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
