INCLUDE HOLIDAYS OF ALL FAITHS IN CALENDAR
Much has been said about our public school calendar with the removal of Christmas and Easter, also the removal of Bible reading and study as well as prayer. A recent Supreme Court case concerning prayers offered by a rabbi in Providence, R.I., during a graduation ceremony further removed moral teaching from our public schools. In addition the Ten Commandments can no longer be posted in a public classroom. There is a tyrannical censorship that wants to abolish the Jewish and Christian faiths. I would use the school calendar to include Passover, Hanukkah, Shavuot, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simhat Torah. Kristall Nacht, Nuremberg Law Day and Warsaw Ghetto uprising also should be on the school calendar or "break."
Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun told the students of Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania that they were entering a world of deteriorating moral values. Blackmun blamed the inability of families, schools, synagogues and churches to influence people's values. In my opinion Justice Blackmun, Justice Douglas and Chief Justice Earl Warren could have been National Socialists for the damage they have wrought on this nation.
In fact, ancient Jewish history was my first history study as a preschooler in the basement of a church with the study of King David, Moses and Sampson. David Green or Ben Gurion come later.\ Marshall Coburn Narrows
