SMYTH COUNTY SEEKS FORMER NURSING HOME
Smyth County Community Hospital has expressed willingness to work with county officials on the county's acquiring the former Francis Marion Manor nursing home property on West Main Street from the hospital. The county is considering the building for use in expanding county social services offices and services relating to the juvenile court system.
Charles Hash, chairman of the hospital board's operations committee, said the board would give the county time to research what work would be necessary to renovate the building for county use, do an architectural evaluation and determine the project's financial feasibility.
