LEGISLATORS HEED VOTERS, NOT POLLS
ARE ADVOCATES of handgun regulation the new "silent majority"? While polls indicate that the vast majority of voters in Virginia supports some restrictions on the purchase of handguns, very few expressions of this view have appeared in the letters section of the Roanoke Times & World-News. In addition, as your series on guns pointed out, mail to legislators from opponents of any regulation on gun purchase has vastly outnumbered support of regulation.Newspaper articles are not enough to convince our legislators of the wisdom of managing the indiscriminate sale of handguns. They must hear from the voters. ELIZABETH FETTER ROANOKE
