Laurel Park took control in the fourth quarter and registered an 81-66 Piedmont District boys' basketball victory over host Magna Vista on Friday night.Ronnie Jackson pumped in 25 points and Chauncey Strange added 14 for the Lancers (11-0, 9-0).
Magna Vista (7-3, 7-2) got 22 points from Evan Penn and 20 from Tony Holmes, but the Warriors were outscored 26-13 in the decisive fourth quarter.

COLLINSVILLE - Fieldale-Collinsville's Cavaliers (7-4, 5-4) got a free throw and bonus apiece from Keith Hodge and LeMule Jones in overtime to hold off Chatham's Cavaliers (4-7, 4-5) in a Piedmont District game.
In the fourth quarter, Chatham's LaVelton Pope tied the score at 60 with a layup, and Fieldale-Collinsville missed its last shot with 10 seconds remaining in regulation time.
Fieldale-Collinsville got the jump ball in overtime but missed its shot, and Pope, who finished with 27 points, scored the first of his two overtime baskets. In the final minute, Hodge hit his free throws for a two-point Fieldale-Collinsville lead. Chatham then missed a shot. Jones rebounded and was fouled with 2.2 minutes remaining; he hit his free throws for the final margin. Rodney Williams added 17 points for Chatham, and Ben Wright had 11.
Jones had 23, Ben Sea had 11 and Hodge had 10 for Fieldale-Collinsville, which trailed 34-25 at halftime and used a 20-4 third-quarter run to get back into the game. Pressure defense, particularly Ben Sea's defense on Chatham point guard Tim White, was instrumental in the rally. \

MARTINSVILLE - Vincent Eggleston scored 26 points as the Bulldogs ran past the Bengals for a homecoming victory in a Piedmont District game.
Maurice Spencer had 14 points and Mike Martin added 11 to pace Martinsville (10-1, 8-1).
Bassett (2-9, 2-7) had four scorers in double digits. Art Wade led the team with 18 points, Philip Hairston and Steve Pilson scored 12 apiece and Darryle Hand added 10. \

DRY FORK - Khris Law scored 22 points and Tarrace Carter had 18 points and 17 rebounds as the Trojans overcame a 41-40 third-quarter deficit to defeat the Wildcats in a Piedmont District game.
Chris Walton hit a 3-pointer to restore Tunstall's lead and the Trojans (7-5, 5-4) used a 29-point fourth quarter to pull away. Walton finished with 19 points.
Four players scored in double figures, three of them with 13, for Dan River (5-7, 4-5). \

STUART - The Cougars led by 12 points at halftime and converted nine of 11 free throws in fourth quarter for a Piedmont District victory over the Hawks.
Richard Hagwood led Patrick County (2-8, 1-8) with 17 points and his brother, Jerome, snared 17 rebounds. Mike Wood added 15 points for the Cougars.
Gretna (1-10, 1-8) got 16 points from Jeff Moon. \

MAX MEADOWS - The Pioneers roared to a 30-8 first-quarter lead for an easy Mountain Empire District victory over the winless Eagles.
Jody Burnett scored 22 points and Steve Widner added 16, while Matt Chumbley and Brian McHone had 10 rebounds apiece and Billy Lovell had 11 points, six assists and four steals for Fort Chiswell (8-2, 6-2).
Eric Faulkner's 13 points led Rocky Gap (0-9, 0-8). \

COVINGTON - The Cougars scored the first 17 points of the game and 10 of the last 12 in a Pioneer District victory over the Fighting Blues.
Parry McCluer (6-3, 2-2) trimmed its deficit to 49-45 before Covington (4-5, 2-1) pulled away again.
Van Wallace's 21 points led the Cougars.
Bryan Sizemore had 12 for the Fighting Blues. \

HOT SPRINGS - Senior Matt Sherard scored 10 of his game-high 20 in the fourth quarter as the Chargers opened their new $1.5-million gymnasium in style with a Pioneer District victory.
James River (3-9, 2-2) got as close as 41-40 on a three-point play by Jody Steger with 3:32 left in the third quarter, but Tyler McCune scored to keep Bath County (6-6, 2-1) from losing the lead.
Steger led the Knights with 15 points.
McCune and Mike Reese had 15 each in support of Sherard for Bath County.

CHILHOWIE - Tim Polk, a 6-foot, 275-pound senior center, had 19 points and 22 rebounds to lead Warriors to a Hogoheegee District victory over the Indians.
Chilhowie (6-4, 3-3) had five scorers in double figures, including Polk and Shane Olinger, who had 14 points.
Bradley Guynn led the Indians (2-7, 2-4) with 14 points.
The game started late because of a double-overtime preliminary and went on to include 60 fouls, requiring 76 free throws. \

WYTHEVILLE - O.J. Williams scored 30 points as the Blue Devils romped over the Maroons for a Hogoheegee District win.
Castlewood (3-4, 2-3) jumped out to a big lead and never looked back. The Blue Devils sank 21 of 39 free throws.
Tracy Brown led George Wythe (5-5, 3-3) with 23 points. Chris Dickenson and Aaron Black had 10 points each. \
Covington Boys' Home 74

MONTEREY - George Wood scored 24 points as Covington Boys' Home routed Highland County in a non-district game.
Boys Home (5-5) got 18 points from Donnie Costigan, 12 from Greg Kier and 11 from Chris Hicks.
Highland County (2-5) was led by John Hull with 27. \

\ Oak Hill Academy 78, South Australia 38: At Northwest Ashe High School in Warrensville, N.C., Oak Hill got 22 points from Jerry Stackhouse and 19 from Alex Sanders in defeating the South Australian Junior Team, which is 7-2 on its 10-game tour through Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky. Jeff McInnis had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Oak Hill (17-0), which is ranked No. 3 in the nation by USA Today. \
