`ALADDIN' EARNS THE MOST AMONG ANIMATED FILMS
"Aladdin" earned an estimated $7.4 million over the weekend, keeping it No. 1 at the box office and pushing its overall take to more than $147 million, the most ever made by an animated film.Although the figures are still unofficial, the $7.4 million figure would easily push "Aladdin" past 1991's "Beauty and the Beast," which earned $144.1 million for the previous record.
Trailing "Aladdin" were "Alive" and "A Few Good Men," tied for second at an estimated $6 million apiece, said an industry source who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
"Scent of a Woman," which won a Golden Globe Award on Saturday night for best dramatic film, and "Used People" were tied for fourth with projected earnings of $4.4 million apiece.
Estimates for the rest of the Top 10 were: "Nowhere to Run," sixth, $4.3 million; "Aspen Extreme," seventh, $3.4 million; "The Bodyguard," eighth, $3 million; "Body of Evidence," ninth, $2.8 million and "Forever Young," 10th, $2.3 million.
The estimated earnings were based on actual ticket sales for Friday and projected sales for Saturday and Sunday.
