OBIT DOWDY, LEIGHTON EDWARD
DOWDY, Leighton Edward, 44, of Riner, died Sunday, January 24, 1992, at his home. Leighton was born in Christiansburg to the late Edward Kent and Lovella Slusser Dowdy. He was an employee at Virginia Tech in the housing department. Surviving are his wife, Terry Lynn Dowdy; two sons, Chris Dowdy of McCoy, Jamie Allen Dowdy of the home; two sisters, Wanda Lawson of Christiansburg, Thelma Linkous of Blacksburg; one brother, Larry Dowdy of Newbern; and several aunts and uncles. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, Blacksburg. The Rev. Glenn Griffin will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
