MOUNTAIN VIEW ALLIANCE ELECTS NEW OFFICERS
The newly reactivated Mountain View Alliance has elected officers.They are: Steve Taylor, president; Ken Greek, vice president; Mavis Rudolph, secretary; and Sema Kemp, treasurer.
The alliance holds its meetings in conjunction with those of the West End Association. TRUST to start training for volunteers Feb. 19
TRUST, the Roanoke Valley Trouble Center Inc., is interviewing people interested in becoming volunteer counselors.
Volunteers are needed to staff the 24-hour telephone hot line, providing counseling on suicide, relationships, drug and alcohol abuse, spouse and child abuse, and rape.
The next training session for volunteers will begin Feb. 19. Volunteers must be willing to work one five- or six-hour shift per week.

Roanoke Valley SPCA elects new officers
Steve Davidson has been elected president of the Roanoke Valley Davidson Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Davidson succeeds Robert Webb, who was elected president emeritus in honor of his years of service to the organization.
Walker Nelms has been elected vice president, a position formerly held by Davidson.
Roanoker recognized for community service
Fely Clark of Roanoke was honored recently by Modern Woodmen of America Camp 11371 Clark for her service to the community.
Clark serves as chairman and founder of the Phillipine American Cultural Affairs of Southwest Virginia, a group that promotes understanding and appreciation of Phillipine history and culture. She also does volunteer tutoring and collects books to send to poor neighborhoods in the Phillipine Islands.
