JIM HAIN of Blacksburg recently was elected chairman of the Montgomery County chapter of the American Red Cross. BERLIE BOWMAN of Christiansburg will serve as vice chairman of the organization.Christiansburg volunteers DORIS OLIVER and FRANCES STAFFORD were elected as secretary and treasurer.
Other members of the board of directors are DON TRUMP of Shawsville, LINDA CECIL of Elliston, ALAN RAFLO, CLARENCE GIVENS, KAY MOODY, DONNA CROMER and SHELLI VASSER, all of Blacksburg, and SCOTT MELBON, BETTY CLEMENTS and JOAN CUSTER of Christiansburg.
\ JERRY W. OLINGER has been elected president of the Blacksburg Volunteer Resue Squad for 1993.
Other officers for this year are JOSEPH C. ALBERT JR., 1st lieutenant; DENNIS J. COTELLESE, JAMES E. SOWDER, LEWIS E. WILLIAMS and M. WAYNE MYERS JR., 2nd lieutenants; DIANE C. FENTON, secretary; and BENJAMIN G. SIMMERS, treasurer.
\ BRENT ALAN BURGER of Blacksburg and RONALD RICHARD GRAHAM of Christiansburg have been selected as Outstanding Young Men in America for 1992.
\ DANNY ZEOLI has been appointed chairman of the Campaign SightFirst Committee of the Dublin Lions Club. Other committee members are club president HAROLD WARD, BOB THOMAS and RALPH MUNSEY.
The club also is sponsoring three members as Melvin Jones fellows: DR. ANTHONY ANNESKI, SILAS RASNAKE and WILLARD AKERS. The $1,000 sponsorship of each member will go to the campaign to prevent blindness.
\ LAURA BRYANT, Riner, retired from Litton Poly-Scientific in December 1992 after 23 years of service. Bryant joined the accounting department as a clerk in June, 1969, and rose to the position of accountant.
Floyd County's KAZHIA KOLB opens a show of landscape oil paintings at the Shenandoah Valley Art Center's invitational gallery on Feb. 5. The show, depicting scenes from Floyd County in different seasons, will continue at the Waynesboro gallery until March 2.
\ TINA VAUGHN of Christiansburg is the author of "Edible Stories," which appears in the February issue of "Learning93 Magazine." Her elementary teaching activity is part of the seasonal feature, "Valentine Adventures in Learning."
