CLAYTOR LAKE GROUP GEARING UP FOR 1993
Friends of Claytor Lake will have a meeting Monday to gear up for its activities for 1993, including a cleanup of the lake in May.The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the Easy Stop convenience store at the lake across Lowmans Ferry Bridge. It is open to people who use the lake, own property around it or are simply interested in preserving it.
The organization is ready to qualify as a non-profit corporation for funding purposes, thanks to legal work volunteered by Pulaski County lawyer Tom McCarthy. It recently elected a board of directors.
Its next step will be to set up committees, adopt a tentative budget and gear up to monitor water cleanliness and promote the lake as a major tourist attraction for the area.
The group also wants to act as a sounding board for lake property owners and users with suggestions about the lake.
It came into being last year following flood problems that left debris in the lake. Ward Angle has been its chief spokesman in meetings with county officials.
