MAN SEVERELY BEATEN, ROBBED AT NORFOLK MALL
Police have increased patrols near the busy Waterside shopping center after a man attending a church conference was severely beaten with a baseball bat and robbed in a daylight attack.John Marion of Colonial Heights was walking behind the Omni International Hotel near Waterside when he was attacked Saturday about 1:45 p.m. by five or six youths. Most of the blows were to his head.
Marion, 49, was attending a three-day meeting of the Episcopal Conference of Southern Virginia at the Omni. He was in stable condition Tuesday at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
