RICHLANDS WALKOUT OVER
The student walkout at Richlands High School that began Tuesday morning to protest the indefinite suspension of Dennis Vaught as coach is over."We are back to instructing students," Richlands principal Brenda Lawson said Wednesday, a day after hundreds of boycotting students and sympathetic adults gathered outside the school to protest the Vaught suspension. The action was taken because Vaught admitted his team used illegal cleats when it beat Salem 17-7 in a Group AA Division 4 semifinal game in December.
The demonstration lasted all day Tuesday but apparently didn't have staying power.
"Several teachers have come by and told me what a wonderful day it was today," Lawson said.
