GEORGE W. NESTER of Vinton Nester has achieved the certified manager designation from the Institute of Certified Professional Managers at James Madison University.Nester, vice president of Mattern & Craig Consulting Engineers, met education and experience requirements and passed an examination on managerial theories and applications.
\ CHARLIE CHANG, executive chef Chang and owner of the Fiji Island Restaurant in Roanoke, has been named chef of the year by the Southwest Virginia chapter of the American Culinary Federation.
Chang, who volunteers as a guest chef for charity projects, also was elected chairman of the chapter's board.
Other officers are: Jack Harteis, president; Curtis Carter, vice president; Steve Williams, treasurer; Jeff Shupe, secretary; and Bobby Simmons, newsletter editor.
