Temp agency to give services to charitiesKelly Temporary Services will donate services to 10 Roanoke Valley nonprofit organizations during its annual KellyWeek program, March 14-20.
The Roanoke Kelly office is seeking nominations in order to select the charities, which will receive eight hours of services each. Nominations may be made by calling 774-8300 by Feb. 22. The winning organizations will be picked at random.
Roanoker appointed to extension committee
Lewis W. Peery has been appointed to serve on the Virginia Extension Advisory Committee.
The committee advises the extension administration on issues dealing with Virginia Tech and Virginia State University extension programs.
Peery, a retired postal employee who is active in many community organizations, also is chairman of the Roanoke Extension Office advisory committee.
Prom dress fund-raiser returns Feb. 27 for its Second Time Around
The second annual Second Time Around Prom Dress Sale will be held Feb. 27 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Crossroads Mall.
The after-prom party committees at William Byrd, Northside, Cave Spring, William Fleming and Lord Botetourt high schools are sponsoring the sale, which will be held in the former Heironimus store.
There is a nonrefundable $5 entry fee for each dress, and the seller sets the price and keeps all profits.
Dresses will be accepted Feb. 26 from 4-8 p.m. and Feb. 27 from 8-10 a.m.
