OBIT-KAIN, AGNES
KAIN, Agnes, 87, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, February 10, 1993. She was
originally of Mount Vernon, N.Y. and left for her new life on Wednesday after
a long illness. She is survived by a daughter, Danielle P. (Dannie) Kain,
currently of Richmond, Va.; two sisters, Ruth Lanza, Mona Gevrekian, both of
Roanoke; nieces and nephews, six of whom live in the Roanoke area; and
hundreds of former dance students who have entertained Southwest Virginia
audiences for three decades. She was a Vaudevilian who played the Palace in
its hey day and her consuming passion in this life was the stage. She
cultivated those gifts wherever she found them. This is her legacy. She now at
last rests peacefully at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, where the family will receive
visitors on Friday 10 a.m. to noon, 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Prayer
Service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. The
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 13, at St.
Andrew's Catholic Church. Interment to follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens
in the Garden of the Cross.
