OBIT-BARKER, JAMES ROBERT, (LT. COL. U. S. ARMY RETIRED)

BARKER, James Robert, (Lt. Col. U. S. Army Retired), 62, of Blacksburg, died Wednesday, February 10, 1993, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a native of Iowa, born to the late James Albert Barker and Ruth Morgan Barker. Surviving are his wife, Rose B. Barker; two daughters, Beverly Ann Strickland, Salem, and Martha Marie Stewart, Pembroke; six grandchildren, James W. Hicks, Cindy Marie Sharp, Michael Robert Hicks, Lance Carl Strickland, Neil A. Strickland and Consandra Rose Strickland; two great-grandchildren, Amber Marie Hicks and Britney Roseann Sharp; two sisters, Judy Bull, Port Byron, Ill. and Sarah Feeno, Colona, Ill. The body of Mr. Barker was cremated at the families request. There will not be a service and flowers are asked to be omitted. McCoy Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
