PRAYER IS SUREST CURE FOR DESPAIR
THIS IS in response to Adrian Blevins-Church's Feb. 2 commentary, "The healing power of song":In her article, she says that most of us resort to prayer "when we feel hopeless against situations within which we have no authority and no control." She is absolutely correct. I pray because I am powerless over situations and I do need divine intervention. I am strongest when I am on my knees pouring my heart out to my loving and powerful Heavenly Father. He does not pour bourbon in a glass for me, but he holds me firmly in his loving arms and tells me that I can relax and rest because he is in control. It is in total submission to my Father that I find strength and power.
I, too, sing - songs of praise, worship and joy that are in my heart. No matter what the outward circumstance, I can sing because my Father is there to see me through.
My prayer for Ms. Blevins-Church is that some day she will know the healing power of a loving and gracious Heavenly Father. DEBBIE MORRISON VINTON
