OBIT LAWRENCE, MARIA JANE GRIMSLEY
LAWRENCE, Maria Jane Grimsley, 85, of Buchanan, died Saturday, February 13, 1993, on her 85th birthday at her home. She was born in Jackson, Ohio, and raised in Clifton Forge. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church parish for many years, was very active in the leadership of charitable and civic organizations in Buchanan and Botetourt county, was a piano teacher for many years, and was a Class of 1929 graduate of Goucher College in Baltimore, Md. She is survived by one son, Howard Coleman Lawrence, Roanoke; one daughter, Jennie Heinbach, Oakbrook, Ill.; one sister, Jean Carter, Huntington, W.Va.; and three grandchildren, J. Coleman Lawrence, W. Andrew Lawrence and Maria G. Lawrence. A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 16, at the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 3 until 5 p.m. and 7 until 9 p.m. at the residence on James River Terrace in Buchanan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buchanan Rescue Squad or to the Church of Transfiguration in Fincastle. Arrangements by Rader Funeral Home, Buchanan.
