NEW RIVER PEOPLE

Radford artist Z.L. FENG has taken prizes and honors in several art shows.

He won the Audubon Artists Gold Medal of Honor at the Audubon Artists 1993 National Exhibition in New York.

He also won awards at the American Artists Professional League 64th Grand National Exhibition, also in New York, the Southeastern Pastel Society 4th Annual International Open Exhibition inAtlanta, the Pastel Society of New Mexico National Pastel Painting Exhibition in Albuquerque, and the Community Artists seventh annual Exhibition in Bristol.

Feng also has a show of portraits at the Piedmont Arts Association Gallery in Martinsville.

\ MEI SHU, a Radford artist, won the "Award of Excellence" at the Community Artists seventh annual Exhibition in Bristol.

Blacksburg Boy Scout Troop 704 recently awarded Eagle rank to two of its members, ODIS HAYDEN GRIFFIN III and SCOTT BATES. Bates, son of Wendy and Robert Bates, of Lancaster Drive in Blacksburg, earned 30 merit badges. His Eagle project was organizing and overseeing the construction of two picnic tables at the Lutheran church that sponsors the troop.

Griffin, son of Sandie and O. Hayden Griffin, of Mount Vernon Lane in Blacksburg, earned 29 merit badges. His Eagle project was the construction of a storage shed at the church.

The Arboretum Garden Club recently awarded blue ribbons to MRS. DAVID B. STOEKLE, for her Valentine table arrangement, and MRS. JOHN PALMER for an assigned design using dried plant material.
