OBIT-COLEMAN, VIRGIL THOMAS
COLEMAN, Virgil Thomas, 70, of Roanoke, died Thursday, February 18, 1993 at the VA Medical Center. He was a member of Clearbrook Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and a deacon. He was a graduate of Roanoke City Public Schools, a graduate of Roanoke College and received his M.S. degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. He was retired from the Va. Department of Visually Handicapped, was a life member of DAV, a member of Lakeland Masonic Lodge #190 and the Scottish Rite. Surviving are his wife, Irlene F. Coleman; son, Tom Coleman Jr.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Coleman Brown, V. Thomas Coleman III, Victoria Dawn Coleman, all of Roanoke; stepson and wife, J.R. and Sue Jones, Newport News; four stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Carl Coleman, Roanoke; four sisters, Mrs. Estelle C. Baker, New Bern, N.C.; Mrs. Catherine C. Parham, Alexandria, Miss Helen Coleman, Mrs. Thelma Hogan, Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 12 noon Saturday, with Pastor Chester Lykins and Rev. Clarence Dodson. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton with Masonic services conducted by Lakeland Masonic Lodge. The family suggest memorials be made to Roanoke College Student Fund. Friends may at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
