RAPE SUSPECT QUITS POLICE DEPARTMENT
A Pulaski man indicted this week on rape charges involving a juvenile girl has resigned from the Christiansburg Police Department.Willis Ornes, 40, had been suspended without pay after his arrest last fall. He resigned Dec. 1, Police Chief Ron Lemons said Friday.
Ornes was arrested on charges of attempted rape of a juvenile and attempted malicious wounding of a woman with a butcher knife. He has been held in the Pulaski County jail since October.
He was indicted by a Pulaski County grand jury on five charges of attempted rape of a juvenile, one of attempted malicious wounding and two of rape of a juvenile, all last October.
