HEARING ON TOWN-HOUSE PROPOSAL TO BE SOUGHT
The Montgomery County Board of Supervisors will be asked Monday night to schedule a joint public hearing with the Planning Commission on a proposed town-house development near The Market Place shopping center.The Planning Commission approved the request for a public hearing at its meeting Wednesday.
Whitethorn Plantations Inc., whose vice president is Blacksburg businessman William Matthews, has asked that a 25-acre parcel be rezoned from an agricultural to a multifamily residential zone.
Whitethorn is seeking a special-use permit to build about 175 town houses on the property, which lies between the county landfill and the proposed U.S. 460 bypass.
