The new Alamo Bowl will replace the Blockbuster Bowl in college football's postseason bowl coalition. Coalition members accepted bids this week from three bowls wanting to fill three available spots, but the Blockbuster was not among them, The Orlando Sentinel reported. The Gator, Hancock and Alamo bowls each bid more than $1 million to be a part of the coalition, whose members will finalize their makeup for next season by Feb. 25.
In another move, the coalition decided to use both The Associated Press media poll and the CNN-USA Today coaches' poll to determine the selection order for the top bowls. Last season, the coalition used only the AP poll.
